The medial collateral ligament (MCL) is one of the four major ligaments that stabilize the knee joint. The MCL runs down the inner part of the knee. MCL tears are fairly common sports injuries and can result in severe pain. Patients complain that their knee feels like it may give out or buckle, thus restricting their ability to work and play sports.
